Fit Check Friday: Outfits I Wore to Feel Something at Work
a weeks worth of outfits that said "I showed up" even when my brain didn't
Some days, getting dressed for work is the only thing getting me out of bed. It has slowly become my favorite form of self-expression. These outfits are not groundbreaking, but they incorporate some of my favorite pieces and help me feel slightly more alive under office lights. I think I have found my happy medium between meeting the dress code and not sacrificing my style (Obviously, everyone’s dress code is different, but these outfits comply with mine). Here is what I wore to work this week and why each look gave me enough personality to not fall asleep at the desk.
Monday
I have been looking for an opportunity to wear my emotional support denim button-up shirt any chance I get. This has been the most effortless piece of clothing. Like a trusty pair of jeans, this denim shirt offers incredible versatility. Elevate it for the office (as shown in the photo) or keep it relaxed with linen shorts and sneakers. Its ability to pair well with various colors and textures makes it that girl!
Tuesday
The weather in Texas has been all over the place and you are about to see that throughout this post. Whenever I wear these pants, I feel like Kim Possible. However, I discovered that it is possible to style a pair of baggy army green pants with colors other than black. I love pairing these pants with navy blue, heather grey, and stacked jewelry to make the outfit more interesting.
Wednesday
You can't beat a classic black-and-white combo! I've enjoyed experimenting with looser silhouettes lately, and this oversized, flowy look gives me a "casually elevated" vibe. Working downtown comes with great responsibility: attending Happy Hour after work. With that in mind, I leaned into an outfit I felt comfortable wearing from day to night.
Thursday
An iron? Never heard of her. But, let’s give a round of applause for the grey socks! To me, socks are an easy accessory to incorporate. It adds a fun break between the black pants and the shoes. This top is a perfect transition season staple and I get loads of compliments every time I wear it.
Friday
We survived the week with no complaints, which honestly feels like a win. I’m trying to opt out of casual Fridays at work because I won’t let the end of a long week dim my shine. Especially today—I had an interview! It was on Google Meet, so I only had to look employable from the shoulders up. I wore Kelly green and white because it makes me look tan, and everyone looks better with a tan.
Well, there you have it! A whole week’s worth of outfits that got me through the workweek without feeling like a complete bum. I am enjoying the full extent of my closet now before it gets too hot outside to function. See you on Monday for some hot goss!
Cheers 🥂
